George Hotel Description
Boasting one of the most prestigious locations of Scotlands Capital, the George is situated in the heart of the city, taking prime position on the elegant George Street.
July 2006 will see the completion of a major 12 million refurbishment of this two hundred year old grade II listed building which will clearly reposition The George Hotel to its rightful position at the top end of the Edinburgh market.
Although retaining many of the original architectural details, all 195 of the hotel's bedrooms, many with views of Edinburgh Castle or the Firth of Forth, will be transformed and given a contemporary new look.
The existing Carvers Restaurant will be redeveloped to become the Kings Hall, a magnificent new events room seating up to 300 people for dinner or 240 guests for a Dinner Dance. Seven additional state-of-the-art rooms will hold between 16 and 80 people for private dining.
The hotel will see the creation of a stunning new restaurant and bar concept, Tempus, which will boast its own direct access from George Street.
The George is within easy reach of the majority of Edinburghs most popular attractions including the famous Castle, Princes Street Gardens and Holyrood Palace. A little further a field is Edinburgh Zoo and Leith Port which is now home to the Royal Yacht Britannia.
Easily accessible by road, rail and air, the George Hotel is just a few minutes walk from Waverley Station and is just a short journey from Edinburgh International Airport.
