Cheltenham Racecourse, around three miles away, hosts the world famous Cheltenham Gold Cup every spring, as well as a host of other race meetings throughout the year. Nearby, Prescott Hill Climb provides exciting motor sport and the preserved Gloucestershire and Worcestershire Railway runs steam trains to the Cheltenham Racecourse station. Guest Bedrooms are decorated in a number of different colour schemes and furnished with a mixture of classic and new furniture. Rooms offer a range of modern amenities that allow you to feel truly at home, including Free Wi-Fi access, flat screen TV's, thermostatic showers and baths in most rooms. While rooms differ in style and decor, they are all well maintained and all have a charming design. Some rooms also boast quirky features such as sloping ceilings and Velux windows. The restaurant menu is straightforward, (some may say traditional) but the food is prepared with honesty and care - the owners live on the premises, so also eat on the premises and only serve food that they would fancy eating themselves. Endeavoring to create as much of each dish onsite as is possible for a small hotel, the team are always happy to adjust recipes where possible to meet personal preferences and requirements. the onsite bar is small but should provide all the refreshments you may require. The concise wine list has around 15 bottles that all provide decent drinking and a good choice to accompany any selection from the menu. Among the beers on offer is Battledown Brewery's Cheltenham SPA, which is brewed barely a mile from the hotel's doorstep. Cheltenham is one of the best preserved Regency towns in Britain, with a wealth of beautiful architecture all around - The Montpellier and Pitville park areas of the town are particularly recommended. Cheltenham is also home to a number of popular festivals dedicated to Science, Music, Literature, Cricket, Screenwriting and Food & Drink. The Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is right on the area's doorstep, as are the beautiful golden stone towns of Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Camden, Moreton-in-Marsh, Painswick and smaller romantic villages like Upper and Lower Slaughter and Bibury. |
