The unique Caro Hotel is housed in a 19th-century palace in central Valencia, just 200 metres from Valencia Cathedral. Combining historical features with modern design, it has an outdoor pool open all year round. Designed by Francesc Rife, each of the elegant rooms in the Caro is totally individual, with exquisite touches of minimalist design. All have a flat-screen satellite TV, air-conditioning and a free minibar. The bathrooms include Bvlgari toiletries, a bathrobe and slippers. Run by chef Miguel Angel Mayor, the hotel's restaurant Sucede, has a Michelin star. There is also a bar with a quiet terrace, where you can enjoy a drink in the sun. Gluten-free menus are also available on prior request. Architecturally unique, parts of Caro Hotel date from up to 2000 years ago. Original features include a 2nd-century Roman mosaic, part of the 13th-century Arabic city walls and Gothic arches. The façade dates from the 19th century. Plaza de la Virgen and Valencia's basilica are within 5 minutes' walk of the hotel. La Lonja de la Seda, the medieval market and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a 10-minute walk away.
